International Greening Education Event

A three-day International Event on Greening Education (IGEE 2010) will be held from 27 to 29 October 2010 in Karlsruhe, Germany. It is a distinctive event that brings together educationists, representatives of government and non-governmental organisations and international development agencies, and sustainable development practitioners and other relevant stakeholders to discuss translating "education for sustainability" in to actions.

A range of models, cases and programs that have been developed and implemented in several countries will be examined and the challenges and opportunities in reference to greening education will be discussed.

Further to the knowledge sharing on greening education including topics such as ecologizing curriculum (incorporating sustainability), greening of courses and creating low carbon education institutions; the upcoming event also provides an excellent networking opportunity with academia, sustainable development practitioners and other stakeholders in Europe and internationally. An excursion (optional) on Saturday 30 October is planned which will provide an additional and informal networking opportunity in addition to visiting a local environmental education project.
