Cambridge UK – On Thursday 24 March, eSight Energy seized the title of "Rising Star" at the 18th Cambridge News Business Excellence Awards.

The award, for the enterprise most likely to deliver an outstanding performance over the next 3–5 years, was awarded to eSight Energy against tough competition from the very best of Cambridge businesses. After presenting to a style board of business leaders, eSight Energy collected its award from BBC security correspondent Frank Gardner OBE at a ceremony held at the prestigious King's College.

Simon Durrant, managing director for eSight Energy commented: "We're delighted to have earned the "Rising Star" title – it is great recognition of the achievements of the eSight Energy team and our progress in the green sector. We've come a long way since 1998, and it's an exciting time to be a part of the green economy. We're proud of the contribution our product provides to large businesses in reducing energy consumption and costs, and the subsequent positive environmental effects."

Cambridge News reported on the event: "Business has taken off for eSight Energy. They opened a sales and marketing office in Chicago last year and have developed partners across Europe. Based in Swavesey, eSight Energy was founded in 1998 by Simon Durrant to develop software for industry so that firms could see just how much energy they were using and where, via a web based application and energy dashboards. Customers include names like Carlsberg, which has made significant water and energy savings, and Airbus, which has also achieved big savings."
