Environmental assessment certification

Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) is the leading and most widely used environmental assessment method for commercial buildings. It sets the standard for best practice in sustainable design and has become the industry measure used to describe a building’s environmental performance.

The 2008 Budget set out the Government’s aim that all new non-domestic buildings should be zero carbon from 2019. BREEAM can help developers and their professional advisors to achieve this goal.

An Envos assessor should be involved in a project as early as possible in order to maximise the benefits of BREEAM. As the majority of BREEAM schemes include a design stage assessment it is important to implement details into the design as early as possible. By doing this it will be easier to obtain a higher rating and a more cost effective result.
