Ian recruited to drive global expansion at ENER-G Combined Power
ENER-G Combined Power Ltd has appointed Ian Hopkins as sales director to drive UK and international expansion.
He joins Salford-based ENER-G from Dresser Rand, where he was director of client services (power), developing the company’s reciprocating engine and combined heat and power (CHP) business.
As a graduate in energy science, Ian joined the cogeneration industry as a sales engineer for Dalkia Utilites Services, before joining the CHP sales team at National Power Cogen.
His sales and management career began 11 years ago as sales manager for Aircogen Ltd, the combined heat and power division of Peter Brotherhood Ltd. He was then appointed to head up Aircogen Inc, building a new joint venture CHP business in the USA prior to Peter Brotherhood’s acquisition by Dresser-Rand.
Commenting on Ian’s appointment, Alan Barlow, managing director of ENER-G Combined Power Ltd, said: “As european market leaders in small scale combined heat and power, we are continually developing our product range and technologies and are braced for major expansion across the UK, Europe and the USA. Ian joins the business at a pivotal time, bringing new direction and energy to our sales and marketing, together with an impressive track record of success and experience in the CHP industry. We are delighted to welcome him to the team.”
Ian Hopkins said: “It’s an exciting time to join ENER-G, which has the breadth of products, funding resources and experience to deliver the cost reduction and carbon savings that organisations are seeking. The company’s UK manufacturing, research and development and service centre is very impressive. This ability to provide a funded CHP solution - from design and manufacture, through to the long term care of the installation – provides a real competitive advantage. It opens up exciting opportunities in both the UK and export markets and I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead.”
