Powerstar sees success in South Africa
EMSc (UK) Ltd, manufacturer of the Powerstar market-leading voltage optimisation solution, has expanded into South Africa with the successful installation of a number of units of the innovative system across the country.
Powerstar has been installed across many different sites and applications, including a 2MVA unit at the headquarters of a Government education department in Pretoria. All of the units are working well and are meeting, or exceeding, their guaranteed savings targets.
Tsebo Energy Solutions (TES), the official South African distributor of the Powerstar range of products, managed all of the installations. William Gould, chief executive officer at Tsebo Energy Solutions, commented, “It is fantastic to see the success of Powerstar in South Africa. The solution is revolutionary and provides great opportunities for many companies. It is brilliant that all of the units installed are meeting, or even exceeding, savings targets.”
The installation of Powerstar units in South Africa has been influenced by Eskom’s incentives in its Demand Side management programme. Powerstar installations which generate savings in excess of 50kW during the Peak Generation window of 6am and 10pm on weekdays will qualify for a rebate of 42 cents per kWh for a three-year period, offering substantial benefits in improving the payback period and return on investment.
Paul North, international business development manager at EMSc (UK) Ltd, commented, “Eskom’s Demand Side program provides a great opportunity for companies with Powerstar installed to reap additional benefits and savings. We are really pleased with the successful introduction of the Powerstar range into South Africa and are looking forward to seeing this develop, in conjunction with our South African distribution partner Tsebo Energy Solutions.”
Powerstar provides an instant solution for businesses and organisations that are not only interested in saving money on their energy consumption, but also reducing their carbon emissions. A proven, secure, reliable solution to energy management, voltage optimisation systems are being deployed by a growing number of companies as a cost-efficient way to control a building’s incoming voltage, at the same time maximising energy savings.
In recognition of the continued international success Powerstar has achieved in markets like South Africa, Spain, Greece, Germany, Cyprus Malta, Australia and the United Arab Emirates, its manufacturer, EMSc (UK) Ltd, recently won the UK Trade & Investment (UKT&I) Exporter of the Year 2013 award.
