Powerstar goes from strength to strength
EMSc (UK) Limited have reported on a year of exceptional growth as demand for Powerstar – their innovative voltage optimisation system – increases throughout the world.
In the past 12 months the company has increased turnover by 166% to almost £8m, is employing 70% more staff and has expanded its Rotherham base with new buildings to house a new assembly and testing facility. The company also won the Yorkshire Forward Innovation in Action award in March.
In the UK Powerstar clients now include large blue chip companies like ASDA and Punch Taverns, alongside government departments, local authorities and the NHS. Internationally the company is also expanding its presence with the signing of two distribution agreements to supply Powerstar in Australia and South Africa and the commencement of operations in Cyprus and Greece.
Powerstar designer and Managing Director of EMSc Dr Alex Mardapittas says:
“This has been an outstanding 12 months for us and I’m really excited by our prospects in the future - especially our growing presence overseas – which is putting us on track to increase our turnover to £12m. In Powerstar we are able to provide an instant solution to businesses and organisations that enable them to save money by using less electricity and at the same time reduce their carbon emissions – it really is a product for our times.
“We take great pride in the fact that we are a British company, designing and manufacturing in Britain. All the components of Powerstar are also sourced here in the UK. At a time when the electronics sector seems reliant on Japanese imports it’s great to have a British manufacturing company doing so well.”
Voltage optimisation is a cost efficient way to control a buildings incoming voltage in order to maximise energy savings. Powerstar is the most efficient voltage optimisation system in the world. It can save up to 26.1% of total electricity consumption and related CO2 emissions, all without compromising the supply to electrical equipment.
