Powerstar at King Edward VI College
King Edward VI College in Nuneaton had targeted its electricity supply as an area where efficiencies could be achieved as part of a broader sustainability programme. An assessment revealed that the college’s energy densities were less than the typical benchmark figures for their building category and that as a result their energy use was higher. The college asked EMSc to demonstrate why the Powerstar voltage optimisation should be chosen to help improve their energy efficiency.
The college is the only specialist sixth form college in Warwickshire. It has approximately 1100 full-time 16-19 year old students and has an excellent reputation for high standards. The college was established in 1974 on the site of the King Edward VI Grammar School in Nuneaton.
Having acknowledged that its energy use was higher than the typical benchmark the college sought a solution that would improve the efficiency of the electricity used, cut the overall cost of electricity and reduce its carbon footprint.
Voltage optimisation was identified as providing a key part of the solution to improving the efficiency of the incoming voltage and EMSc were invited to show why Powerstar offered the best value for money system.
Powerstar impressed and was selected as the preferred voltage optimisation system. King Edward VI College praised EMSc as being highly professional from the outset and keeping clear lines of communication open. Several visits to the site were undertaken by EMSc engineers and were highlighted by the college as being ‘highly informative’.
THE BUSINESS BENEFITS
The installation was completed in a very efficient and timely manner with no disruption to the college activities. The college is now monitoring electricity usage very carefully and anticipate that the overall aims of the project will be fully met. The customer service after installation was singled out for special praise by the College who described it as ‘excellent’.
QUOTATION FROM CUSTOMER
“As part of our sustainability programme we targeted electricity supply as an area where efficiencies could be saved and cost savings made. The aim of installing the voltage optimiser was to save money and energy whilst boosting efficiency. I have no hesitation in recommending EMS and there products to any interested party”
