Ecoweek 2011: Urban Communities and Green Architecture takes place in Athens, Greece, featuring keynote speaker David W. Orr (Oberlin College), lectures by experts from Greece and abroad, and 'green' design workshops for young architects, designers, landscape architects and engineers and graduate students. The Ecoweek 2011 workshops will include 'green' interventions and landscape projects in the city of Athens – in cooperation with the City of Athens. Some of the projects are likely to lead to real projects. Ecoweek 2011 takes place under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change, the City of Athens, and the Athens College Alumni Association.
Ecoweek 2011 keynote speaker is David W. Orr, one of the most important environmental thinkers and proponents of our time. He will be speaking on Monday December 12, at 5:30 pm at the Athens College Theater. Admission is free and open to the general public. The lecture takes place with the generous support of the US Embassy of Greece, and in cooperation with the Athens College Alumni Association.
David W. Orr is the Paul Sears Distinguished Professor of Environmental Studies and Politics and Special Assistant to the President of Oberlin College and executive director of the Oberlin Project.
