Devon solar panel installations could see 43p FIT rate for a little longer?
Yes, you heard correctly, yesterday the courts ruled that the government had legally flawed their power by implementing the feed-in-tariff cuts from 43p to 21p within such a short amount of time (namely six weeks) and, furthermore, whereby they would still be consulting on the same until 23 December 2011 - ludicrous! The government are, of course, appealing the court's decision!
It is all still up in the air and we are not fully sure of what this entails for Devon solar PV installations however rumour today has it that we may be able to continue installing solar panels in Exeter, Devon and Somerset with customers benefitting from the 43p feed-in-tariff rate up until mid February. But, as I write this, this has NOT been confirmed.
This could bring further chaos to the solar industry in Devon but good chaos nonetheless. We managed to meet all of our customers' needs prior to 12 December but we already have solar PV installations booked in for January so if there is a second round of influx for new customers wanting solar photovoltaic systems in Exeter, Devon and Somerset you and we will need to act swiftly in order to meet everyone's requirements (although, we must remember, that the mid-February date is still speculation).
When I hear further I shall keep you all posted...
