CEME, the Centre for Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence, is a charitable organisation originally created in 2002 as part of the London Thames Gateway Regeneration Scheme working in collaboration with key partners, Ford Motor Company and The London Development Agency. CEME the charity owns and operates this major education and skills campus in London with a brief to provide a world class facility to attract the best training and education partners into London. The objective is to develop and deliver the skills required regionally with a view to providing sustainable jobs for local people within the technology and engineering sectors.

CEME plays an important part in the regeneration of London Thames Gateway by acting as a catalyst, bringing together the activities of a range of different organisations to deliver relevant skills to enhance the employment opportunity of the regional workforce.
As a major Education facility CEME supports local schools to enable education provision in engineering and technology and to encourage young people to consider careers within the engineering sector.
An education provider would benefit from close collaboration with The Outsourced Training Company (a wholly owned CEME subsidiary) to work with local Industry and to identify training needs for delivery opportunities.

Through its Innovation Centre CEME offers start-up accommodation for local businesses creating a direct link to local industry whilst benefiting from the tenancy of the London Borough of Havering within the main facility.

Location and transport links
CEME is conveniently located close to the M25 and adjacent to the A13. It therefore offers easy access to the London, Essex and Kent as well surrounding areas. It is at the heart of a large centre of population where local employment is based upon a tradition of manufacturing and engineering. The centre has its own bus terminal with a direct service to the District Tube line and regular train services from Romford. C2C trains
connect from Fenchurch Street to Dagenham Dock.

Accommodation and facilities
CEME is able to offer complete flexibility in terms of the accommodation and the facilities available. It is envisaged, however, that this opportunity is best suited to training in the engineering, motor vehicle, passenger transport, electrical/electronic, software, product design, Green engineering and low carbon skills, food manufacturing, print and wider technological sectors. Not only is the space ready to move into but it is also fully equipped with modern facilities and equipment which can be used based on your specific requirement. Equipment ranges from extensive vehicles bays, traditional engineering workshops with CNC machine tools, CAD design suites and product development studios with rapid prototyping equipment to complete production
Simulation lines and associated training software packages. The CEME design technology facilities are outstanding including computer aided 3-D modelling, laser cutting and rapid prototyping workshops.
The classrooms and workshops are divided to provide self contained units for different sized groups; this includes a number of bespoke heavy duty teaching classrooms located adjacent to the engineering workshop. In addition to classrooms of the highest specification and quality there is direct access to large communal areas offering catering facilities and social space in a modern inspirational environment.
Up to 31 classrooms and 24,000ft2 approx (2,230m2 approx) of workshops are immediately available.
The accommodation is available on a fully serviced basis related to an apportionment of the cost to CEME. There is the opportunity to share facilities with other providers thereby reducing overheads and optimising efficiency. The period of the agreement is to be negotiated but it is envisaged that
this is likely to be for a multi-year agreement and supplemented with a Service Level Agreement.
