CARBON EXPO, the world’s leading Trade Fair and Congress for emissions trading, carbon abatement solutions and new technologies, will act as the global annual meeting point for businesses and organisations operating on the CO2 market from May 27th to 29th, 2009 in Barcelona. This international platform is jointly organised by The World Bank, The International Emissions Trading Association (IETA), Fira Barcelona and Koelnmesse.

Since 2004, CARBON EXPO has attracted the essential players from around the world of the fastest growing market, the Carbon Market. In the current economic situation, if there is one place you could go to meet all the main actors from the public and private sector, it will be CARBON EXPO. The organisers expect 3,500 participants from 120 countries, around 300 exhibitors and approx. 200 accredited journalists from more than 30 countries. This year’s programme, articulated around Training sessions and four streams (Project, Traders, New Market and Cities & Carbon Finance), will include over 250 speakers, with 9 high level plenary sessions, 28 interactive workshops and 55 exhibitor side events. With a special focus on “Cities & Carbon Finance”, sessions will cover the specific needs, challenges and vulnerability that rapidly increasing urban populations are facing, and the impact on climate change based on their need for power, water, transport and safe living conditions.
