BELECTRIC signs contract to construct 104 MWp solar park in India

BELECTRIC’s Nataram Solar Park near Mandsaur, India, with 23 MW DC capacity
BELECTRIC has announced a 104 MWp turnkey EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contract for a solar project in the Indian state of Telangana. The entire project consists of six sub-projects that will be commissioned turnkey in the first quarter of 2017.

Telangana, located in southern India, has excellent solar resources. BELECTRIC, one of the most successful international enterprises in the development and construction of free-field solar power plants, will provide a turnkey system including construction of transmission lines and bay extension at the utility end.

“This solar PV project marks an important step to provide eco- and grid-friendly electricity to this region,” commented the Managing Director of BELECTRIC India, Yogesh Dabhade. “All project details are approved, so we can start construction in the coming weeks.”

The projects were originated by Think Energy Partners, a USA-based entity that develops and finances PV solar plants in India, and will be developed and owned by a consortium.

After completion, Telangana solar park will feed more than 160,000,000 kilowatt-hours of solar electricity into the regional power grid each year. This corresponds to an annual CO2 offset of around 80,000 tons. The investment will not only help secure India’s huge energy requirements, but also provide hundreds of jobs for Indian employees during construction.
