The UK Government’s commitment to the reduction of greenhouse gases (GHG) places obligations upon roads and transport authorities to manage emissions and contribute to emission reduction targets. As a guide, PAS2050 provides a basic specification for assessing the GHG’s of public services, of which transportation is a key part, but a range of carbon accounting methodologies are emerging which can help organisations meet their contribution objectives for the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC), which comes into force in January 2010. This course provides practical and efficient guidance to enable organisations providing transport services to be accountable for their GHG emissions, setting out how they might establish robust accounting and reporting systems, prior to the CRC becoming mandatory.
