Only days to go until UK AD & Biogas 2011, the UK's only anaerobic digestion trade show

The anaerobic digestion (AD) industry can deliver 40TWh of renewable energy, equivalent to a fifth of the UK's domestic gas demand, and about a quarter of the UK's renewable fertilizers. The Waste Review explicitly says that AD realises the most environmental benefit of any treatment for organic waste. Recycling nutrients in organic waste back to land in the form of digestate products replaces oil-based fertilisers, ultimately reducing costs and emissions in food production and the price of food. Renewable gas from AD offers a low carbon alternative for the gas and electricity grids, and a valuable renewable transport fuel. Given AD's significant contribution to UK plc and the potential to be worth £2–3bn employing 35,000 people, it is no wonder the AD industry is generating such interest. The direction of growth in anaerobic digestion in the UK will be the main focus of UK AD & Biogas 2011 (6–7 July, NEC), the UK's largest and only dedicated AD trade show. UK AD & Biogas 2011, which features over 160 exhibitors, free seminars and workshops plus a high profile conference, is double the size of last year's inaugural show. This rate of growth is extraordinary and a clear indication of the speed at which the AD market is developing in the UK.

As the biggest British AD conference of the year, 'The Life Cycle of an AD Plant' is not only a great opportunity to network with other high profile government, local authority, farming and industry professionals but it is also an excellent source of the latest political, regulatory, commercial and technical information for anyone interested or involved in the AD and biogas industry. Through case studies and in-depth panel discussion, this two day conference will give delegates a clear insight into how to achieve success in the AD industry by taking them step by step through the life cycle of an AD plant, from development through to operation. Whether you want to understand the key political and regulatory drivers and issues affecting your business or you want to know how to put together a financial model or improve your operating efficiency, or you simply want to learn about new opportunities for biogas and digestate, this conference covers a wide range of topics, presented by industry experts, designed to help with every aspect of your AD project, to ensure you get it right.

Expert speaker and topics include:

• Lord Henley, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
• Wendy Manning, director of customer logistics, Coca-Cola Enterprises – 'The 2012 Olympics: accelerating biomethane as a transport fuel'
• Nigel Keen, property and development director, Waitrose – 'Effect of climate change on food retailers'
• Richard Nourse, partner, Novusmodus – 'Funding a nascent industry: variables and assumptions'
• Stephen Wise, technical director, Shanks – 'Proving technical competence'
• Simon Rigby, non-executive director, Farmgen – 'Success in the farming sector'
• Ian Wardle, head of business support, WRAP – 'Economics of managing your digestate'
• Vidyanath Gururajan, project director, Branston Ltd – 'The future of digestate for food production'

And many more.
