CONSERVATION CONFLICTS: STRATEGIES FOR COPING WITH A CHANGING WORLD
INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE AND POLICY CONFERENCE, Aberdeen Centre for Environmental Sustainability (ACES), ABERDEEN, SCOTLAND, AUGUST 22ND-24TH 2011
Welcome to our cross-disciplinary conference focused on developing new understanding and approaches to managing conflicts in conservation. ACES 2011 will bring together academics and policy makers who work on this complex, dynamic, interconnected social-ecological subject.

EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED!

Join us in Aberdeen for scientific exploration, discussion, and discovery with a range of social and natural scientists, policy makers and artists from all over the world. Hear cutting-edge lectures by leading academics in political ecology, evolutionary psychology, conservation biology, environmental economics, international development and many other disciplines. Confirmed speakers include: Bill Adams, Tim Ingold, Mark van Vught, Rocky Gutiérrez. ACES 2011 is much more than a regular conference. On the agenda are plenary sessions, core and short paper sessions, poster sessions, panel and working group sessions, policy forum, an art exhibition, musical performances and a chance to discuss and debate new ideas with other disciplines.

DATES:

Art inspired by conflicts in Conservation: August 20th – 21st and throughout the conference and policy forum.
Science & policy Conference: August 22nd – 24th

VENUE:

The conference will be held at Aberdeen Arts Centre, a local social enterprise, giving back to the community.

ORGANIZERS:

ACES 2011 is organised by ACES in collaboration with the Rural Economy and Land Use Programme (RELU) the University of Aberdeen and the Macaulay Land Use Research Institute.
