Most houses in Britain have a letter box in the front door, usually a simple slot with a flap over it, through which the post is delivered each morning.
The Post Office first encouraged people to provide these in 1849.
The basic concept of its design has remained the same for 159 years with the exception of some basic additions to prevent draughts, including the following:
• Springs
• Brushes
• Catches
• Magnets
• Seals
• Outward opening flap
All the above have never really addressed heat loss (approximately 3%) on current solutions, without secure undamaged mail, or trapped fingers.
Okay! What is the purpose of a draught proof letter box when windows can be opened?! Reasons:
A) It is mandatory since May 2008 that all new build are airtight houses - including the letter box
B) Opening windows is YOUR choice! On the occasions you want to close them to keep in the warmth, it’s nice to know there is no leakage of cold air coming in through your exterior door, unknowingly making your heating system work harder.
Also it may be obvious by a rattling letter box
Ecotech Ltd. has redesigned the concept of the letter box, using precision engineering, allowing the flap to use the wind to ITS advantage, and allowing the wind to blow the letter box SHUT!
This unique patented design addresses all of the above problems by allowing:
• An inward flap
• Lightweight yet strong plate allowing mail to pass effortlessly through
• A precision balanced flap that CANNOT be blown open, no matter how strong the wind
• An interior plate for retro fitting on any existing letter box
• Optional finishes including, Aliminium and ABS colours. Preferences, views, queries can be made directly on www.theletterplate.com or email: info@theletterplate.com or: (t)01189 872 398 Look at the website for the latest news or contact direct. |
