Campaigners highlight aviation issue of low-carbon bill A man dressed as Gordon Brown has handed out hundreds of paper aeroplanes on the high street in Lincoln has part of a protest to highlight the effect of the aviation industry on the global climate.

The campaign was launched by the Friends of the Earth group for the area, with each paper aeroplane having the word "missing" printed upon them to highlight the absence of aviation form the recent climate change bill, thisislincolnshire.co.uk reports.

Friends of the Earth claims that international aviation is the fastest-growing contributor to climate change and should have been included in the bill.

Valerie Wilkinson, a member of the group, said: "All the emissions from traffic and transport are being addressed but not aviation and shipping.

"If you are going on holiday you choose the cheapest option and sadly flying is cheaper than taking a train."

She added that the prices of flights are continuing to drop with some holidaymakers consequently choosing to fly many times a year.

The climate change bill was first introduced to parliament last November and completed its passage through the House of Lords at the end of last month, with the government aim of it receiving Royal Assent by this summer.
