Sainsbury's and auto manufacturer Toyota have reached an agreement which will see the supermarket supplied with a fleet of 400 hybrid-powered vehicles for its staff.According to the Yeovil Express, the agreement marks the largest ever fleet deal struck by Prius.The supermarket plans to utilise the hybrid cars for business-need vehicles as part of its efforts to minimise its environmental impact."We're constantly looking at how we can make our operations greener, but we also know it's important to encourage our 150,000 colleagues to do the same," said Alison Austin, head of environment at Sainsbury's.She added that the group intends to reduce its carbon emissions by one-quarter by 2012.Meanwhile, last week the supermarket reported that it has experienced its 13th straight quarter of growth, with strong expansion observed in non-food sales.Total sales growth at Sainsbury's has reached £2.7 billion since March 2005, including a six per cent increase in sales over the most recent financial quarter.
