Low carbon vision revealed

28 March 2008

Low carbon vision revealed British business owners have shared their vision of a future low carbon economy with the Telegraph, the newspaper reported.

Alison Murray, corporate responsibility manager at T-Mobile claimed that greater energy efficiency will help reduce carbon emissions in the future, while Richard Naylor, the UK environment manager for Scottish & Newcastle claimed that issues such as food miles and recycling will become more prominent.

He added that energy costs are likely to have an effect on customer behaviour and claimed that using more recycled items in food packaging products such as cans may help to cut carbon emissions.

"There's a whole mind-set change needed around cans and their value," Mr Naylor claimed.

Meanwhile, David North, community and government director at Tesco claimed that many of the solutions to the issue of climate change have already been developed but that greater uptake is needed to ensure a low carbon future.

"We will see a greener and more efficient world [in 2050] because a lot of the carbon emissions at the moment are associated with things that could be better," he said.

The UK is aiming to cut its carbon emissions by 60 per cent by 2050.ADNFCR-1235-ID-18528176-ADNFCR
