Ed Miliband has said world leaders must achieve an international agreement on climate change and low carbon issues. The energy secretary said that Britain must ensure that it leads the way in bringing together an "ambitious [and] comprehensive" programme to reduce carbon emissions and protect the environment.Mr Miliband's call comes after the US and China have pledged to cut their own emissions in the coming decades.China has pledged to reduce it emissions by 40 to 45 percent in the next ten years, while the US is to unveil plans to cut down on carbon by 17 percent over this period."Last week we saw again that the pressure of the December deadline is paying off as the US and China put numbers on the table," said Mr Miliband. "We have come a long way but there is still a distance to travel to get the agreement we need, consistent with the demands of the science Copenhagen can and must succeed but it still needs maximum pressure from politicians and public alike."The Copenhagen talks are to begin on December 9th. http://tinyurl.com/ygr86t5
