The government must take action to tackle the increasing threat of climate change, an environmental organisation has said.Abi Edgar, a spokeswoman for the Campaign against Climate Change, noted that the authorities "should listen to what people are saying".Speaking at 350.org's International Day of Climate Action, she added that the UK and the wider world are in the "midst of a climate emergency" and urgent action is required to mitigate the potentially devastating effects of changing weather patterns and rising sea levels."World leaders have all said that people need to get out to show that there's a public will for these measures to be taken," Ms Edgar observed."If we show that there's political support from the people for these sorts of measures, it will make the difficult decisions that politicians have to make that much easier."Representatives from governments across the world are to meet in Copenhagen in December in order to discuss issues related to climate change and develop a framework of green measures to replace the Kyoto Protocol.
