Britons need to be better educated about renewable sources of energy, British Eco Energy has said. The organisation argued that awareness of the importance of renewables and their place in combating climate change needs to be "increased significantly".A spokesman for the group, which offers information and guidance on green issues, said that this is vital "not just because of the threat of power failures but also because of the government's targets in terms of carbon reduction and climate change". "If awareness is not raised significantly then the chances of them meeting those targets are very slim," he added. In July, the government announced plans to make sure that up to 40 percent of power in the UK would be generated through renewables, nuclear sources or clean technologies by 2020.The proposals are in line with Britain's intention to cut down carbon emissions by 80 percent on 1990 levels within the next four decades. http://nds.coi.gov.uk/Content/detail.aspx?NewsAreaId=2&Re...
