Carbon cutting campaign launches A major new scheme aiming to cut carbon emissions is set to be launched in London.

The 10:10 campaign will be officially opened between 16:00 and 19:00 at the Tate Modern in the capital today (September 1st).

All manner of organisations, businesses and individuals are being urged to sign up to 10:00 and pledge to decrease their carbon footprints by ten per cent next year.

There will be free champagne to early-comers, as well as music performances from top bands Reverend and the Makers and Stornaway at the launch.

Filmmaker Franny Armstrong, who is leading the campaign, told the Guardian: "Once we've got a critical mass of support we will go to the government and say the people of Britain are ready to cut by 10 per cent, now we need you to move."

Groups already involved in the initiative include the Science Museum, Oracle, several UK universities and the British Medical Journal.
