The Welsh assembly government is set to highlight the amount of energy the country will aim to produce from renewable sources in the next 20 years, it has emerged.According to reports from the BBC, Welsh environment minister Jane Davidson is expected to release a consultation paper to support the development of a number of renewable energy projects, including plans for electricity generated from wind and tidal power, as well as sustainable biomass.The assembly government also claimed that the plans for research and development into greater energy efficiency would help to make the country into a low-carbon energy economy.According to the Microgeneration Action Plan for Wales set out by the Welsh assembly government, the country is currently focused on meeting "challenging targets" to generate electricity from renewable sources and improve the energy efficiency of systems currently powered by fossil fuels.Microgeneration - generating heat and electricity at a domestic or community level - could be an "increasingly attractive alternative to central electricity generation and to oil and gas heating", the plan stated.
