Phone makers Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson are the greenest companies in the technology industry, a new report has claimed.According to the latest Greenpeace Guide to Greener Electronics, Nokia ranks top of the list for its policy on toxic materials and components, while Samsung is in second for its commitment to cutting its absolute carbon footprint.Sony Ericsson, which recently unveiled a green range of mobile phones, was selected in third place for its efforts to improve the energy efficiency reporting. The guide, first produced in August 2006, ranks the world's 17 largest manufacturers of electronics, information technology and telecommunications equipment on factors including recycling and climate change.Among the lower ranked companies were Sony, for its lack of commitment to cutting carbon emissions and electronic waste; Microsoft for its poor recycling policy and Nintendo for its slow response on the use of toxic chemicals.Greenpeace called on electronics giants to do more to reduce the impact of their operations and devices on the climate, to take back and recycle their products once they are disposed of and remove hazardous substances from their production lines.http://tinyurl.com/cc4j9
