Energy supplier E.ON has launched a new campaign aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of the FA Cup, the biggest domestic cup football competition in the world. The Carbon Footyprint campaign will encourage fans of the competition, which E.ON sponsors, to make energy savings changes in their lives to cut their own carbon emissions. The company hopes that the campaign will offset the 45,000 tonnes of CO2 that is produced every year as a result of the FA Cup.Mike Thompson, head of sponsorship and events at E.ON UK, said: "We want to use our expertise to help clubs and fans reduce the emissions produced by The FA Cup and believe that Carbon Footyprint is a simple and fun way to educate people on ways that they can make a real difference."How we all use energy and the impact we have on the environment is such an important issue for us as a company and for society as a whole."From Round Two of the competition, E.ON will be organising events on match weekends all over the country, to get fans to watch the match together. It will also be offering free coach travel with National Express to selected away games from Round Three, when the Premier League clubs enter.
