A travel plan to cut car use and its related emissions is to be launched in a new development in Canterbury.Residents of the new Berkeley Homes (Kent) development Kingsbrook Park will be offered incentives to leave their car behind and take less emitting, healthier transport. When new residents arrive at the 264 townhouses, they will receive a welcome pack with details of a £75 discount for bus travel and savings on a bicycle purchase.Their Green Travel Plan will also include local walking maps and cycle routes to encourage active travel.Piers Clanford, Managing Director of Berkeley Homes (Kent) Ltd, said: "We expect our Green Travel Plan at Kingsbrook Park to have maximum impact on how residents travel as it has been in operation since the development launched, allowing us to educate residents from day one. Kingsbrook Park enjoys a central Canterbury location, so is well served by public transport."According to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, road transport contributed 22 per cent of the UK's total emissions in 2006.
