Campaigning charity Friends of the Earth has stated that governments must ensure that it is cheaper and easier to go green if progress is to be made in tackling climate change.According to the organisation, while everyone can help to reduce humanity's impact on the climate by making simple changes to their lifestyles, the onus must not be on individuals but rather the government should act too.Neil Verlander, spokesperson at Friends of the Earth, stated: "Governments around the world and in this country must do a lot more to make it cheaper and easier to go green. "The greenest options should be the cheapest and easiest option and too often that is not the case."Sending price signals such as reducing the cost of public transport is the best way of reducing carbon emissions, he added.Recently, the United Nations Environment Programme published its 'Kick the CO2 habit' guide, which issues tips on how people can reduce their environmental impact.
