Council announces solar hot water grant

03 July 2008

Council announces solar hot water grant A local authority in north-east Wales has become one of the first in the UK to introduce a grant system for the installation of solar hot water systems, it has been revealed.

According to reports in the Daily Post, Flintshire county council will provide top-up funding of £400 to 20 households in the area which claim money through the government's Low Carbon Building Programme grant.

The money, which could total as much as £800 when both grants are combined, will go towards the cost of installing certified products for a variety of renewable energy technologies.

Among the kinds of renewable energy products currently available are solar photovoltaic devices, which use energy from the sun to create electricity which can then be used to run appliances and lighting.

As they do not require direct sunlight, such appliances can still generate some power on a cloudy day.ADNFCR-1235-ID-18669130-ADNFCR
