Energy efficient appliances suggested to cut costs

17 June 2008

Energy efficient appliances suggested to cut costs People in the UK have been advised to reduce the impact of high fuel costs by improving their homes' energy efficiency.

The Guardian has reported that the average annual gas and electricity bill for a three-bedroom house could amount to £1,044, representing a rise of over 50 per cent, according to Ofgem.

Using low carbon appliances with the Energy Saving Recommended logo ensures that the products have met strict energy efficient criteria and cost less to run.

A condensing boiler with heating controls will allow consumers to regulate the heat of their homes, while using fuel more efficiently.

Double glazing, as well as insulation for walls, floors and lofts, are other means by which householders can cut their carbon output and their heating bills.

The Local Government Authority recently claimed that insulating properties is the best way to tackle fuel poverty in the UK.
