Glastonbury mobiles to be charged with wind power
Those finding themselves enmired at the Glastonbury festival this year and running low on mobile phone charge are likely to be grateful for an innovation being provided by one operator.

Orange has announced that it intends to supply a wind and solar-powered charger tent, which is sure to pull in the crowds of those who have become separated from their friends, or who need transport home but have no battery to communicate.

The renewable energy sources used to power the giant tent will have designers hoping for a blustery festival - although not one featuring the seemingly customary rainclouds.

Designed by energy innovations firm Gotwind, the tent follows trials of smaller pods last year and can now charge up to 100 mobiles simultaneously.

Each handset will be stored in its own locker while charging to ensure appropriate security is maintained.

Providing details of its technology, Gotwind points out that wind has the potential to be a source of energy throughout the night, unlike solar power.

Remarking on an earlier prototype the company asserted that it was "very happy with what [it had] achieved".ADNFCR-1235-ID-18640724-ADNFCR
