New business plan unwrapped

12 June 2008

New business plan unwrapped The Waste and Resources Action Programme (Wrap) has revealed its new business action plan for the next three years.

Among the targets set out in the report are aims to ensure that eight million tonnes less waste is sent to landfill and to save five million tonnes of CO2.

Wrap states that it is to increase its involvement with the construction industry as a means of reducing its waste levels, as well as improving waste collection systems and adding four million more "committed recyclers".

Promoting behaviour change among individuals and businesses is also to be "at the heart of every programme", writes Dr Liz Goodwin, chief executive of the body.

"While we are making good progress in helping to reduce waste and recycle more, there is still an important job to do to make an impact on the environment and the economy," she said.

Wrap is an organisation that helps local authorities, businesses and individuals to reduce waste and increase recycling activity, while tackling climate change and making better use of existing resources.
