British Airways (BA) have announced that they may have to ground several of their flights, something that has been deemed a positive step for the environment by one conservation group.The WWF has commented on BA's recent statements that suggest the airline will have to reduce the number of flights in response to increasing fuel costs.Peter Lockley, head of transport policy at the WWF, explained that although the aviation industry has been growing, many airlines have had to use only the most fuel-efficient planes due to expensive fuel.However, since this only increases the efficiency of the overall fleet by one or two per cent, BA has stated that "the good times are over", meaning that some flights will be grounded and others reduced in frequency.Mr Locley said: "From our perspective that's a win for the environment." "That will literally mean fewer emissions going into the atmosphere."BA recently released its preliminary results for the 12 months ending on March 31st this year, which showed that full-year fuel costs were over £2 billion.
