A survey carried out by the British Safety Council (BSC) has highlighted the importance of businesses across the UK responding to the environmental challenges they are likely to face. The research indicated that potential customers are likely to adjust their shopping habits to varying degrees based on the environmental credentials of one company or service provider over another. In addition, two in three employees across the country believe that their bosses ought to be doing more to reduce carbon emissions and limit the potential impact they are having on climate change. For their part, a majority of business managers in the UK concede that they are not yet doing all they should be to improve their environmental performance. The BSC's chief executive, Brian Nimick, said: "Companies are being put under increasing pressure to 'go green' and reduce the impact that they are making on the environment and the climate." Meanwhile, a report from BusinessGreen suggested recently that more and more companies operating in the UK are taking action to prepare for a future that involves living with the impact of climate change.
