Ministers set out plans for a low carbon economy

Ministers set out plans for a low carbon economy Politicians have developed a blueprint to encourage energy-efficient entrepreneurs and businesses to flourish.

Calling current eco-technology developments a "green industrial revolution" the government published a report saying businesses and law makers must work together to develop new technology.

Policies encouraging eco-friendly inventors and businesses to grow effectively and quickly are likely to follow.

Environment secretary Hilary Benn said: "The government is committed to building a low carbon economy. That means a complete change in the way we live and an economic transformation."

Officials are predicting a surge in the numbers of "green collar" workers and say global green industries will be worth £350 billion a year by the end of 2010.

A low carbon energy summit has been arranged for next month to further explore the possible potential of the country's green economy.

The new report is related to the 2007 Climate Change Bill, which sets ambitious targets for UK carbon emission reduction.ADNFCR-1235-ID-18579517-ADNFCR
