Devon housing development receives low carbon kudos

Devon housing development receives low carbon kudos A 36-home housing development in Devon has received an excellent rating under an eco-assessment scheme, it has been reported.

Citing the Express and Echo, Green Building Press reported that the development - which is located at Highland Terrace, Uffculme, received top marks for a number of environmentally-friendly criteria, including low carbon emissions, sustainable drainage, renewable energy technology, recycling facilities and cycle storage to promote low-emission transport.

"Features such as energy-efficient condensing boilers and showers and taps which enable lower water usage, are all crucial in terms of environmental impact, but these measures also have a beneficial effect by significantly lowering regular utility bills," said assessor Linda Randal of the EcoHomes Environmental Awards scheme.

She added that the homes fulfilled a list of "stringent" requirements to receive the excellent rating.

The news comes as Green Building Press reported last week that some low carbon building standards are deterring builders from constructing affordable housing in Wales.ADNFCR-1235-ID-18567200-ADNFCR

industry, but they do need to have a green outlook

Discuss   UK AWARE sponsors do not necessarily need to be from a 'green' industry. They do, however, need to have a genuine concern for environmental matters and conduct business in an appropriate manner.
