Thanks for posting, @Republican,
Perhaps next time you can add some links or other collateral to help us understand how you've reached your opinions.
I'll tackle your points in turn:
Check out this page: http://gristmill.grist.org/skeptics, specifically this one: http://gristmill.grist.org/story/2006/11/11/23656/027 - looks like those 'hoaxers' are everywhere! What's especially worrying is that they seem to occupy posts in a lot of the institutions that contribute towards genuine human progress, learning and understanding. Maybe this internet thing is also just some kind of big, humorous prank? And the Large Hadron Collider: "You should have seen their faces..."
Carbon dioxide is not burning up our planet. You liberals lie! You liberals are lying about global warming.
You've got three options here: http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/06/26/060626184958.a9erm3mw.html
- George Bush is lying or being disingenuous
Liberals lie? Actually according to Google, you're right! About 640K results for 'liberal lies' and only 550K results for 'republican lies'. Oh, stop the press, 'George Bush lies' brings in over 5 million pages from Google. Nevermind...
The earth is getting cooler.
Cooler/warmer/any change is bad. Global Warming is probably a slightly out-dated term - Climate Change is a more useful term. If you've got any evidence that the earth is getting cooler, I'll go find some counter-evidence. As it's Friday and I've had a long week, I'll argue at your level: "Rain is getting wetter".
EVEN if you were right on all three statements (and I really hope you are because it'll save us a whole lot of death and unhappiness if you are), I think there's a pretty strong case to moving to a 'low carbon economy', for reasons of:
- Energy Security - especially in terms of removing dependence on fossil fuels which are (1) non-renewable and (2) causing major global geopolitical instability and wars
- Maintaining a high quality environment
- Managing our resources more sustainably
- Improving our quality of life
- Passing on a legacy of sustainability to future generations
