Our mission is to maintain and enhance its reputation as a world-class scientific institute, delivering proven value to Government and other customers. Our customers include a range of local, national and international commercial companies, Northern Ireland and United Kingdom Departments, Agencies, and associated bodies and the European Union. We pride ourselves on the quality and breadth of our scientific expertise and maintain appropriate quality assured accreditation standards. AFBI has various national and international reference laboratories. AFBI scientists have long standing experience and internationally recognised standards of providing evidence‑based scientific advice to Government policy makers and commercial decision makers. We are the partner/contractor of choice for many local, national and international bodies. A major aim is to support industry by providing a “one-stop shop” for diverse specialist expertise and facilities. Unique research will be undertaken at the AFBI Environmental and Renewable Energy Centre of Excellence into a number of technologies that will enable Northern Ireland to develop viable agricultural enterprises based on production and renewable energy.
